A day in the life of Business Operations
In a world where knowledge is power, Business Operations gives Play'n GO teams the information they need to continually hit those big wins! They're first and foremost client focused and help answer the essential questions of what our clients need and want from our services. This future focused team help to set Play'n GO on a path of continuous excellence. We asked the team to explain to us in more detail what this really means on a day to day basis and here’s what they said.
What do we mean by Business Operations at Play’n GO?
Business Operations is like an undercurrent of knowledge in the Play'n GO organisational structure. Pulling data from a variety of sources, they process and interpret the information in a way that provides tangible solutions for improvement in all of our services. They have an eye on the past, present, and future, and it could be said that without this team driving process and procedure improvement, we wouldn't be as responsive to client needs as we are.
What projects do the Business Operations team most frequently work on?
The team’s main focus is customer success, and their main body of work surrounds data analytics, and turning that data into process and procedure improvements at Play'n GO. Now what does that mean? Essentially, with the goal always being a positive experience for the customer, this team reviews a wide body of available information, and continually asks themselves how we can improve our services for end users and customers.
Play'n GO strives to be a 'data democracy', where people have all the information they need to succeed at their jobs. Business Operations takes the pool of available information and interprets it into usable plans, ideas, and areas for growth that can be explored by our teams. 'Customer success' may mean something different for every client, market, and team, but that is the whole point. A key to Play'n GO's success is understanding unique needs and responding to them. We only develop games when there is a market for them, and we only market games in an area where they will hit a big win! Business Operations work helps to inform these important decisions.
What types of skills exist in the Business Operations Team?
This team is made up of data scientists who are end business experts with the ability to optimise and interpret data and information. While each member of the team has their own unique skills, we can say overall that this team has people with strong business, technical, and analytical abilities. And of course... they all love data!
Because a huge part of their work is in optimising process and procedures at Play'n GO, they also need to know and understand all of the nuances in the way that our company and its teams operate. This knowledge is a key to their success in helping teams thrive and do their work to the best of their abilities.
Who does the Business Operations team collaborate with?
Because their main goal is 'customer success', all teams need to be given the resources and information to do their roles to the best of their ability, and that is where Business Operations comes in.
They collaborate across all areas of the Play’n GO, fuelling them with information to do their jobs to the best of their ability. They are highly involved in many aspects of the Play'n GO team with their ability to provide sound business strategy based on the facts. Knowledge is power, so by giving teams knowledge, they are armed to hit those big wins.
What keeps our data enthusiasts motivated?
The push for continuous excellence and seeing improvement keeps this team focused and excited about what they do. When you are looking at a mass of data, numbers, statistics, and qualitative feedback, it could be a tornado of information. But here is where it gets interesting....data on its own CAN be misinterpreted and spell out a misleading picture. This team is like a group of private investigators sorting through all the qualitative and quantitative information to determine what the 'true picture' actually is. They're spotting usage statistics, trends, and patterns that can be turned into a tangible area for improvement to our systems. It is like one giant puzzle that they are assembling and reconstructing in different ways for different purposes.
What makes working in Business Operations within Play’n GO different to any other company?
When we asked the team, they commented that this team is as much friends as they are colleagues. Working with such a close-knit team of awesome people is a huge motivating factor. Who doesn't like coming to 'the office' when you work with great people?
